Armenian bill bans arrest of social packages, student deposits and escrow accounts

YEREVAN, November 11. / ARKA /. Armenian parliament has approved today in the second and final reading a set of amendments to the Civil Code and the law “On compulsory enforcement of judicial acts”.

According to deputy governor of  the Central Bank of Armenia Nerses Yeritsyan, under the  changes social packages, escrow, real estate and  notary  accounts, as well as special accounts of developers, personal accounts, including student deposits, registered for third parties can not be arrested.

“The amendments also stipulate that these accounts can not act as collateral, can not be arrested or  confiscated as part of  obligations of a client or be used for the fulfillment of obligations in cases of
bankruptcy of the account holder, except for isolated cases,” Yeritsyan said.–0-
