Armenian central bank issues new commemorative coins

YEREVAN, January 26. /ARKA/. Armenia’s Central Bank said it has issued four gold and silver commemorative coins. The gold coins are Vardan Mamikonyan-1625, Arshak Fetvachyan-150, Alexander Melikyan Bazhbeuk-125 and silver coins are Twenty-Five Years of the Republic (1991-2016).

The print run of Vardan Mamikonyan-1625 coins with the face value of 5,000 drams is 5,000 copies. The print run of Arshak Fetvachyan-150 with the face value of 100 drams is 500 copies. The print run of Alexander Bazhbeuk-Melikian-125 with face value of 100 drams is 500 copies and the print run of Twenty-five Years of the Republic (1991-2016 with the face value of 5,000 drams is 300 copies.

Since 1994, the Central Bank of Armenia has issued nearly 150 commemorative coins covering almost all spheres of public activity. Each year, Armenian commemorative coins are exhibited at international numismatic exhibitions.

In 2011 three commemorative coins, dedicated to mediaeval Armenian historian Movses Khorenatsi, jazz music and Tansy Zangezur (a tree species) were awarded at the 5th international commemorative coins contest “Coin Constellation-2011 “. -0-
