Bank deposits in Armenia’s national currency decline by 3.3% in 2016 January

YEREVAN, March 3. / ARKA /. Resident bank deposits in Armenia’s national currency, the dram, declined by 3.3% in 2016 January when compared to December 2015, while the deposits in USD rose by 1% to the equivalent of 976.1 billion drams, the Central Bank of Armenia said.

According to the Central Bank, the demand deposits in dram decreased by 7.3% to 194.6 billion drams, while fixed deposits fell by 0.6% to 323.8 billion drams.

Demand deposits in US dollars decreased by 3.6% to the equivalent of 231.6 billion drams, while time deposits grew by 2.6% to 744.47 billion drams.

Thus, resident deposits in Armenian banks in January fell by 0.48% to 1.494.6 trillion drams. At the end of January 2016 total deposits in Armenia-based banks stood at 1.958.4 trillion drams, a 0.37% drop from 2015 December.-0-
