Private remittances sent to Armenia in two months of 2016 grew by 3.4% to $165 million

YEREVAN, March 4. /ARKA/. Private remittances sent to Armenia via banks in the first two months of 2016 grew by 3.4% from the year before to $165 million, the Central Bank said today. According to the regulator, the remittances if calculated in the national currency, amounted to 81 billion, up from 76.2 billion drams a year ago (a 6.3% growth).

Total remittances sent to Armenia in 2015 fell by 23.5% to $1.623.6 billion. Remittances in Russian rubles last year grew by 5.7% from 2014 to 45.7 billion rubles.

If calculated in the national currency, total remittances in 2015 amounted to 776.3 billion drams, down from 881.9 billion drams in 2014.

Remittances sent to individuals for non-commercial purposes decreased by 30% in 2015 to $1.208.5 billion. ($ 1 – 490.7 drams). -0-
