Insurance companies collected 9.2 billion drams in six months as premiums for mandatory insurance of vehicles

YEREVAN, August 17, /ARKA/. Six Armenia-based insurance companies collected a total of 9.2 billion drams in the first half of 2016 as premiums for mandatory insurance of vehicles and paid 3.9 billion drams in damage compensation claims, according to ARKA news agency’s 2016 second quarter bulletin “Insurance companies of Armenia.”

Overall, the companies collected a total of 15.8 billion drams as insurance premiums and paid 6.8 billion drams in damage compensation claims.

The leading company by size of premiums collected for mandatory insurance of vehicles was Rosgosstrakh-Armenia with 2.733 billion drams. It also paid 1.387 billion drams in damage compensation claims.

It was followed by Ingo Armenia with 1.855 billion drams, collected as premiums for mandatory insurance of cars. It also paid 793.1 million drams in damage compensation claims.

Nairi Insurance with 1.847 billion drams of collected insurance premiums was third. It also paid 565.4 million drams in damage compensation claims.  Sil Insurance with 1.087 billion drams and 473.3 million drams respectively was fourth, Reso with 1.075 billion drams and 441.1 5 million drams was fifth and Armenia Insurance with 618.8 million drams and 269.4 million drams respectively was sixth.

Insurance companies’ assets in the first half of 2016 totaled 40.2 billion drams, a growth of 3.5% from the beginning of the year; their liabilities fell by 2% to 22.1 billion drams and their capital grew by 11% to 18 billion drams. Their net profit surged by 74% to 2.620 billion drams. ($1 – 475.69 drams).–0—
