Armenian premier not afraid even of 80% foreign debt

YEREVAN, October 21. /ARKA/. Karen Karapetyan, Armenian prime minister, speaking Thursday at the National Assembly’s extraordinary session, said that he found important the structure of the country’s foreign debt, not its size.

“I am not afraid even of 80% foreign debt, though there are budget limitations,” he said.

In his opinion, important is whether this structure of debt brings profits or not and whether it creates added value or not.

Earlier, Vardan Aramyan, finance minister, said that Armenia’s state debt will reach $5.8 to 5.9 billion and will make up 54.4% of GDP by the end of this year. Foreign debt here amounts to about $5 billion and makes up about 48 or 49 percent of GDP. –0—
