Armenian banks bought $82 million last week

YEREVAN, AUGUST 21. /ARKA/. Armenian commercial banks bought a total of $82 million from the local intra-bank foreign currency market from August 14 to August 17 at the weighted average exchange rate of 477.69 drams for $1, the press service of the Central Bank reported.

It said they also bought 11.4 million euros and about 1.3 billion Russian rubles at the weighted average exchange rates of 560 drams for €1 and 7.96 drams for 1 ruble, respectively.
The banks were said also to have sold about $71.8 million, €15.2 million and 1.3 billion Russian rubles at the weighted average exchange rates of 479.05 drams, 564.19 drams and 8.06 drams, respectively.

No transactions with USD at the NASDAQ OMX Armenia stock exchange were effected during the reporting period.

Also , from August 7 to August 13, the banks provided 42.8 billion drams worth loans in the national currency, and $30.2 million worth loans in USD($ 1- 478.57 drams). -0-
