Consumer lending by Armenian banks grew by 220 billion in 12 months

YEREVAN, June 13 /ARKA/. At the end of April, 2019, consumer lending by Armenian banks amounted to 776.6 billion drams, having increased by 220.4 billion drams ($ 459 million) or 39.6% from April 2018, Central Bank of Armenia said.

Mortgage lending grew by 30.8% to 277.8 billion drams. The amount of loans provided to the service sector amounted to 250 billion drams, an increase of 7.8% from late April 2018. Lending to trade increased by 5.7% to 457.3 billion drams. Also loans provided to such sectors as transport and communications surged by 38% to 101.8 billion drams.

Loans provided to the construction sector grew by 18.7% to 169.2 billion drams and lending to agriculture upped by 1.3% to 142.6 billion drams. Lending to industry dropped by 3.15% to 483.7 billion drams. ($ 1 – 479.36
