Armenian economy minister discusses cooperation expansion prospects with ADB director

YEREVAN, October 25. /ARKA/. Armenian Economy Minister Tigran Khachatryan received Friday an Asian Development Bank delegation headed by ADB Country Director Paolo Spantigati, the press office of the Armenian economy ministry reports.

Spantigati spoke about many regional support programs of the ADB. He stressed the role of the Armenian government in public-private partnership. In his words, the ADB continues considering grounds for cooperation and the areas where it could increase its support.

Khachatryan, for his part, said that the Asian Development Bank, as one of the biggest financial organizations, supports the implementation of governmental programs and is now actively participating in infrastructural projects in Armenia. “It is very important in this context to continue discussing ways for creation room for financing the private sector,” he said. Khachatryan also stressed the importance of development of the capital market, the system of management of public investments and the institutional system in the country.

The parties discussed key focuses of the Partnership Strategy and the ongoing support for the Armenian government for partnership between public and private sectors. Khachatryan outlined the economic ministry’s top-priority objectives and stressed the importance of the Asian Development Bank’s further support and development of the cooperation. -0—
