Armenia’s bank assets built up 17% in 2019 – member of central bank’s board

YEREVAN, February 4. /ARKA/. Assets of Armenia’s banks has grown 17% in 2019 to AMD 5.28 trillion (USD 11.03 billion) from AMD 4.964 trillion (USD 10.3 billion) in 2018, Martin Galstyan, a member of the board of the Central Bank of Armenia, said Monday in an interview with Civilnet.

In his words, the banks’ aggregate lending has grown as well – by AMD 500 billion or 16.4% in 2019, compared with 2018.

Galstyan pointed out that growth of particular economic indicators gives grounds for saying that the year was positive in terms of developments in the financial sector. He said that the country’s banks have built up also their profits by AMD 60 billion in 2019, compared with the previous year. ($1 – AMD 478.85). -0-

In July 2025, the average settlement rate of the Armenian dram to the US dollar was 384.1 drams, which is 1% lower than the same indicator in June 2024 (388.1 drams).
