Armenian government allocates $ 550,000 for local production of COVID 19

YEREVAN, April 7. /ARKA/. The Armenian government will provide $ 550,000 to the Institute of Molecular Biology to organize local production of tests for the detection of the coronavirus, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said on Monday, answering questions from citizens live.

“Today the government has already made a decision – we will allocate a large enough amount to purchase the necessary raw materials, and provide them to the institute so that they can establish this production,” Pashinyan said.

He said that the Armenian government has set the task to itself: starting from this week, to conduct 1000 tests daily (today from 200 to 400 tests are conducted per day). In his words, therefore, tests are being purchased in a quite large quantity – around 70 thousand.

“We are going to implement mass testing, because 1000 per day is a pretty serious number,” the prime minister summed up.

A state of emergency in order to suppress the spread of coronavirus operates in Armenia from March 16 to April 14.
