Ban on imports of Turkish goods will not lead to inflation rise

YEREVAN, November 3. /ARKA/. The ban on imports of finished Turkish goods will not lead to additional inflation, Minister of Economy Tigran Khachatryan told reporters on Tuesday.

The Armenian government has imposed the ban that will be in force from December 31, 2020 for a period of 6 months.

“I do not think that the ban will lead to higher inflation, since Turkish goods make a small share in total volume of consumed products,” Khachatryan said.

“According to our estimates, there is not a single product segment where Turkish goods have a large share and, therefore, we can confidently say that there will be no inflation,” Khachatryan said.

The ban was prompted by Turkish assistance to Azerbaijan that started massive war against Nagorno-Karabakh. Turkish military also recruit and transport Syrian mercenaries to Azerbaijan to fight against Karabakh. -00
