Armenian central bank to revise upward its growth forecast

YEREVAN, August 2. /ARKA/.  Armenia’s Central Bank will revise upwards its earlier made growth forecast for 2022, deputy chairman of the regulator Nerses Yeritsyan told a press conference today

“Obviously, there will be an upward revision if there are no unexpected developments in the external sector,” he said. Yeritsyan added that specific figures will be presented in September.

Armenian government’s growth projection for this year is 7% and the inflation is set at 4% (±1.5%). Armenia’s GDP in the first half of 2022 grew at a rate of 11.8% compared to the same period in 2021.

This past June, the Central Bank had already revised upwards it earlier made growth forecast of 1.6% to 4.9%.

Yeritsyan said also that the yearend inflation is predicted to be 8.5%. He added that Armenia had the lowest inflation of 10.3% across the region in late June. -0-
