IMF chief calls Armenia’s financial performance ‘impressive’

YEREVAN, May 26. /ARKA/. Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan met with International Monetary Fund (IMF) Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva on the sidelines of Qatar Economic Forum, the presidential press service reported.

It said the president praised Armenia’s effective cooperation with the IMF. The IMF Managing Director, in turn, highlighted Armenia’s ‘impressive’ recent financial performance, stressing that with the establishment of peace in the region, the economy could record higher growth.

The sides also discussed post-pandemic recovery processes as well as exchanged views on their impact on economic development and progress in the context of current global challenges.

According to the National Statistical Committee, Armenia’s GDP in the first quarter of 2023 registered a 12.1% growth compared to January-March 2022. The 12-month inflation rate in late April 2023 was up 3.2% from April 2022. -0-
