Armenia’s state debt up 6.4% to $11 bln 322 million at the end of 9 months of 2023

YEREVAN, November 27. /ARKA/. Armenia’s state debt at the end of nine months of 2023 amounted to 4 trillion 454 billion drams, up from 4 trillion 186 billion drams at the end of 2022, Deputy Finance Minister Vahan Sirunyan said today, saying also that the debt in USD and AMD terms grew by 6.4%.

He specified that the external debt of the government amounted to AMD 2 trillion 354 billion, while domestic debt amounted to AMD 1 trillion 890 billion.

In USD terms, the external state debt stands now at $11 bln. 322 million: the government’s debt – at $10 billion 790 million, the Central Bank’s debt is $531 million. Interest payments increased by 0.7%.  

At the same time, Sirunyan noted that the structure of the debt has improved, as the share of loans in AMD has increased, i.e. the share of domestic debt and issuance of AMD bonds is growing. In general, the share of AMD loans accounts for 43% of the state debt. ($1 – 402.18 drams) -0-
