Armenia’s international reserves fall in September, leading to lowest import cover in a decade

YEREVAN, October 23. /ARKA/. Armenia’s international reserves fell slightly in September by $39 million, bringing import coverage to 2.3 months, the lowest in a decade, according to the World Bank’s ‘’Armenia Monthly Economic Update – October 2024’’.

In September, the AMD was almost stable against the USD and appreciated slightly against the RUB. In comparison to September 2023, the AMD to USD exchange rate was 1.5 percent (yoy) stronger, while the AMD to RUB exchange rate was 3.7 percent (yoy) weaker.

The CBA continued to purchase FX from the market to smooth exchange rate sharp fluctuations.
According to the Central Bank, Armenia’s international gross reserves in September amounted to $3.57 billion compared to $3.6 billion in August. ($1 – 387.21 drams). -0-
