Armenia to receive €236m loan from EBRD for Sisian-Qajaran road construction 

YEREVAN, October 24. /ARKA/. Armenian National Assembly approved a loan of 236 million euros from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), which will be used for the construction of the southern section of Sisian-Qajaran highway of the ‘’North-South’’ transport corridor. 

‘’It is planned to build a new 60 km long section of the road, which will increase the speed limit from 50 km/h to 100 km/h’’, Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Kristine Galechyan reported. 

During the project implementation, three-lane roads with asphalt concrete pavement, 5 tunnels, 11 bridges, 68 fences and 43 retaining walls will be built. The project is scheduled for completion in November 2032. 

The estimated cost of the entire southern section construction project is 452 million euros. The deputy minister said that it is also planned to receive a 137 million euro loan from the European Investment Fund (EIF) , and the remaining 79 million will be financed by the government. -0-
