Armenia’s public debt to reach 53.5% of GDP in 2025 – Finance Ministry

YEREVAN, October 28. /ARKA/. Armenia’s public debt is projected to reach 5 trillion 914 billion drams in 2025, with servicing costs increasing from 11.2% to 11.3%. This announcement was made by Armenian Finance Minister Vahe Hovhannisyan during discussions on the draft state budget for 2025 in parliamentary committees.

“Armenia’s public debt will grow to 53.5% of GDP, with a medium-term balance projected at 56.4% of GDP. In light of certain risks, this growth could exceed projections, while in other scenarios, it might be lower,” Hovhannisyan stated.

According to the National Statistical Committee, Armenia’s total public debt amounted to $12.5 billion as of August 31, 2024. This includes $6.3 billion in external debt and $6.2 billion in internal debt. -0-
