Armenia’s total public debt increased by the end of September, exceeding $12.5 billion

YEREVAN, November 6. /ARKA/. Armenia’s total public debt as of September 30, 2024, amounted to over $12.5 billion, an increase of $36.924 million compared to August 31, 2024, according to a report by the National Statistical Committee of Armenia.

On December 31, 2023, the public debt stood at $11,845.413 million. In Armenian drams, the public debt was worth 4,842,070.0 million drams, an increase of 11,684.0 million drams over the previous month. As of December 31, 2023, the public debt stood at 4,794,904.8 million drams.

The external debt stood at $6,295.855 million (a decrease of $3.739 million over the month), while domestic debt increased by $40.664 million in September, reaching $6,205.616 million.
In dram terms, the external debt decreased by 2,771.2 million drams, totaling 2,438,510.7 million, while domestic debt increased by 14,455.2 million drams to 2,403,559.3 million.

Of the external debt, government debt decreased by $5.121 million, totaling $5,774.243 million, while the Central Bank’s debt increased by $1.382 million, reaching $521.612 million drams.

In drams, the government debt decreased by 3,197.1 million to 2,236,480.0 million, while the Central Bank’s debt rose by 426.0 million to 202,030.7 million.

Of the domestic debt, $5,632.166 million (an increase of $40.350 million) were owed to resident holders of government treasury bonds (in dram equivalent, 2,181,450.7 million drams, an increase of 14,454.2 million drams).

Government bonds in foreign currency held by residents amounted to $555.876 million, a decrease of $0.407 million (in dram equivalent, 215,301.9 million drams, an increase of 41.0 million drams).

Domestic guarantees provided by the government stood at $17.574 million, a decrease of $0.094 million (in dram equivalent, 6,806.7 million drams, a decrease of 40.0 million drams). -0-
