EBRD Yerevan office head says Central bank able to secure projected inflation rate

YEREVAN, November 8, /ARKA/. Valeriu Razlog, head of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Yerevan Office, said today the Central Bank of Armenia is able to secure the projected inflation rate of 4% (±1.5%) for 2010.

In an interview with ARKA news agency, he said EBRD did not revise its earlier official forecast of an 8% GDP growth for Armenia, adding, however, that the figure could be revised.

He said early next year EBRD will analyze the outgoing year’s indictors to make a forecast for 2011.

According to 2010 budget, Armenian economy is expected to expand by 1.2%, the inflation is projected at 4% (±1.5%). Earlier this month head of the World Bank Yerevan Office jean-Michel Happie, predicted a 4-5% GDP growth for 2010. The Central Bank of Armenia has revised its earlier more optimistic forecast down to 2.4% – 2.7%.  -0-
