Banking sector of Armenia legalized its Microsoft software fully

YEREVAN, March 29. /ARKA/. Banking sector of Armenia legalized its Microsoft software fully, said the expert of international organization BSA (Business software alliance), representative of the company Microsoft on the rights and legal interests Narine Mkrtchyan in the press-conference in international press-center “Novosti” on Tuesday.

It is the result of regular work and introduction of all advantages of using licensed software. Pirate product does not provide necessary level of work productivity and security which is especially important for such organizations.

Similar activities on the introduction of licensed software are conducted also with Armenian insurance and credit organizations.

“We target at the private sector using softer approaches for non-commercial organizations but the Government of Armenia should also be more conscientious as today government structures are the main consumers of pirate products”, said Mkrtchyan.

At present only the Justice Ministry and the Ministry of Education and Science use legal software which got licensed programs of Microsoft in the frames of different programs.

Now business representatives of are more conscientious in buying licensed product. 70 of 100 representatives of private sector try to get licensed software.

“By signing of agreement with corporation Microsoft in 2007 the government assumed certain responsibilities, including the introduction of licensed software whichare not applied”, said Mkrtchyan.

The cost of licensed software of corporatioin Microsoft starts from 24 thousand drams for Windows Starter in Armenia.

Corporation Microsoft cooperates with Armenia in the frames of the agreement signed on January 30, 2007 in Edinburgh (Scotland). According to the agreement, Microsoft is implementing a number of investment, educational and innovation programs in Armenia, including the opening of Innovation Center of Microsoft.. –0–
