Armenian economy ready to face possible second wave of world crisis- Economy Minister

YEREVAN. September 17. /ARKA/. Now Armenian economy is more formulated than earlier and is ready to face the possible second wave of world crisis, said Armenian Economy Minister Tigran Davtyan on Saturday to the journalists of “ARKA”.

“We are following very attentively the processes of global economy and have accumulated considerable experience over the years in implementing anti-crisis events. We can say that Armenian economy is better prepared and more formed than some years ago”, said Davtyan.

Of course, there are risks of the second wave of crisis but there is hardly an expert who can make clear forecasts.

The Ministry works intensively with International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank (WB) following the processes in global economies – the USA and countries of Eastern Europe, at the same time directing the steps at the domestic economy, in particular to concentrate on those activities that will help Armenia to protect against possible negative developments, to which the country must be prepared.

“We hope that global economy can avoid serious problems in future, but we are monitoring the situation and try to be prepared for any developments”, said Davtyan.

He said that Armenia has accumulated experience in the last 20 years and knows how to face such threats, has an experience and instruments.

According to National Statistic Service of Armenia, Armenian economy recorded growth of indicator of economic activity by 7% compared to the same period of 2010. In July compared to June 2011 increase of this indicator was 13%. –0–
