First million drams transferred to bank account for Syrian armenians

YEREVAN, September 18. / ARKA /. The first million drams has been transferred to a special bank account opened at Areximbank-Gazprombank Group for the Armenian community of Syria, an ex-MP from the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) Lilit Galstyan, said today. She said this amount is not enough to provide comprehensive assistance to those in need in Syria and urged Armenians to make their donations.

Galstyan said the bank account was opened as part of a civic initiative, “Help your brother,” proposed by the ARF and a number of public organizations. ARF Bureau member Vahan Hovhannisyan said this initiative should not be politicized.

In early October a charity concert is planned in support for Armenians of Syria, which will be followed by a marathon fundraising. Anyone wishing to provide financial assistance to the Armenians of Syria may transfer money to a bank account in Areximbank-Gazprombank Group. Donations in Armenia drams should be transferred to 23800 AMD 01157620300 and in USD: to 23800 USD 01,157,620,401. -0-
