Armenia posts 1.5% deflation versus 4% inflation throughout CIS in 9 months

YEREVAN, November 9. /ARKA/. Armenia posted 1.5% deflation in January-September 2012 compared to the analogical period last year, versus an average 4% inflation registered throughout the CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States), according to the Interstate Statistical Committee of the CIS.

Within the mentioned period, the deflation was also reported in Azerbaijan and Ukraine at 2.7% and 0.3 % respectively.

At the same time, consumer prices rose 0.8% in Armenia in September from August (average 0.5% throughout the CIS). The other CIS members reported inflation in January-September 2012 compared to the same period a year earlier, according to the source.

Within the reported period, the highest inflation rates were posted in the following states: Belarus- 16.1%, Russia- 5.2% and Tajikistan- 5.6%, Kazakhstan-3.9%,  Kyrgyzstan- 3.1% and Moldova- 2.4%. There is no information available about Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. —0-

Armenian banks  in 2024 increased profit by 61% to 363 billion drams – UBA

Armenia-based banks made a profit of 363 billion drams in 2024, an increase of about 137 billion drams, or 61%, compared to 2023,  Daniel Azatyan, the head of the Union of Banks of Armenia (UBA) told a press conference today.
