Armenia may shift to state health insurance in 2012- minister

YEREVAN, December 26. /ARKA/. Armenia may shift to state health insurance system in 2014, Health Minister Derenik Dumanyan said Wednesday.

Health Ministry Commission jointly with Finance Ministry, the government and the Central Bank are currently preparing the normative and legislative base for the shift by the order of President Sargsyan, he added.

As to social package payments he said,  “In 2012  2.5 billion drams (over 6 million dollars) was injected into the system, this is a serious figure, and I expect these amounts to rise in the near future,” Dumanyan said.

Social package for civil and public servants was introduced in Armenia in January 2012. Mandatory health insurance is within the main components of the package. –0-
