Armenia’s card transactions rose to 92.1bln drams in February

YEREVAN, April 25. /ARKA/. Total volume of all card transactions in Armenia amounted to 92.1bln drams in February, which is 41.3% increase against the month before, monthly information handbook of the central bank of Armenia for February reports.

Number of card transactions in the period totaled 1,834,976 (28.7% increase).

Card transactions via the Internet exceeded 2 billion drams in Armenia as of the end of February, an increase of 6.9% compared to the month before; number of these card transactions rose by 7.9% to 115,187 in the period.

Card transactions through ATMs totaled 70.6bln drams as of the end of February (increase of about 44.5%); number of transactions was 1,517,250 (35.1% increase).

Card transactions via POS terminals and imprinters in the period totaled about 19.5bln drams (35% increase); total number of the transactions was 202,539 (3.2% increase). ($1=414.08drams).  –0–

Central Bank leaves refinancing rate unchanged taking into account high uncertainty in US economic policy

The Central Bank of Armenia decided today to leave the refinancing rate unchanged at 6.75% taking into account a set of factors such as  the continued high uncertainty surrounding the US economic policy, declining confidence in the global economy, growth slowdown and  a possible  weakening demand in Armenia, the head of the regulator Martin Galstyan said at a press conference on Tuesday.

Armenia’s public debt increased by 4.4% to 5.3 trillion drams – Finance Minister

Armenia's public debt as of March 31 is 5.3 trillion drams, an increase of 4.4% compared to December 31 last year, and 5.8% in dollar terms, said Finance Minister Vahe Hovhannisyan.
