Individual transfers to Armenia grow 4.75 to $773.2 million in Jan-June 2014

YEREVAN, August 13. /ARKA/. More than $773.2 million came to Armenia in Jan-June 2014 as individual noncommercial transfers. This amount is 4.7% more than that transferred to the country at the same period a year earlier.

The Central Bank of Armenia says in a fresh issue of its monthly bulletin that $166.5 million was transferred from Armenia outside in the first half of this year against $149.6 million at the same period a year before.

The net inflow amounted to about $606.7 million in Jan-June 2014 against $588.7 million in Jan-June 2013.

The bulk of transfers come from Russia – about 81.2% of the total amount of individual transfers. Armenia received about $627.8 million from Russia over six months of this year (a 1.8% year-on-year growth) and transferred $94.7 million to Russia (a 10.8% growth).

Over $164.2 million was received in Armenia in June alone – 2% more than in the same month a year before.

About $28.9 million was sent outside of Armenia in June 2014 against $25.1 million in June 2013. Net inflow in June 2014 amounted to $135.3 million against $135.8 million in June 2013.

According to the central bank, transfers to Armenia totaled $1869.7 million in 2013 and made up 17.3% of the country’s GDP. ($1 – AMD 411.99). –0–
