Doubtful credit investments of Armenian banks in first half surge by 20 percent to 18.2 billion drams

YEREVAN, September 16. / ARKA /. Armenian commercial banks’ doubtful credit investments in the first half of the year amounted to 18.2 billion drams, an increase of 20.3 percent if compared with the same period last year, according to the “Bulletin of the Central Bank of Armenia” for the second quarter of 2014.

It says standard credit investments of the banks’ in the reporting period amounted to about 1.8 trillion drams or 94% of their total credit investments (a 9.5 percent rise compared with the first half of 2013).

Controlled credit investments totaled 58.3 billion drams (a decline of 7.7%), and non-standard credit investments jumped by 61.4 percent to 36.6 billion drams.

Overall credit investments of banks as of June 30, 2014 stood at 1.886.1 trillion drams, an increase of 9.6 percent compared with the same period last year.
