Eurasian development bank organizes special New Year event for children with cancer

YEREVAN, December 15. / ARKA /. The employees of the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) organized a special New Year event today for children who are being treated at the Fanarjian National Center of Oncology in Yerevan, Sergey Ignatov, head of the EDB Office in Armenia, told ARKA.

He said the event involved 14 children aged 2 – 17. He said some other sick children live outside Yerevan and could not arrive in the capital and will get their gifts later.

Mr. Ignatov explained that each child was given an individual educating gift, chosen by the employees with great carefulness. According to him, all the employees of the EDB had their contribution to the today’s event, although only members of its Yerevan Office were present at it.

The unprecedented New Year event held under the motto “Feast to Children” was held on Monday at cancer centers in eight cities in six member states of the Bank – in Almaty, Astana, Bishkek, Minsk, Dushanbe, Moscow, Yerevan and St. Petersburg.

The purpose of this event is to give joy to young patients of oncology centers, who will forget for one day their illness and go back to a world where miracles happen and also help them strengthen faith in recovery.

The costs of organizing the event were covered by the bank’s employees, led by its Chairman of the Board Igor Finogenov. The funds were not only used to buy gifts for sick children, but also to help cancer centers. According to Mr. Ignatov, part of the money for Yerevan Center was used for renovating the hall of the children’s department.

Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) is an international financial organization established by Russia and Kazakhstan in 2006 to help develop market economies and boost mutual trade ties in member states. The member-states are Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan. -0—– –
