Armenian commemorative coins named winner of international contest in Moscow

YEREVAN, September 23. /ARKA/. A silver coin “100th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide”, released by the Central Bank of Armenia in 2015, was named the winner of the 10th international contest “Coin Constellation – 2016” in Moscow in the category “Coin of the Year”.

The print run of the silver coin with the face value of 100 drams is 1000 pieces. The diameter of the coin is 50.0 mm, the weight is 67.2 grams. The coin was designed by Suren Simonyan and Aram Urutyan. The coins were minted by the Mint of Lithuania, the Central Bank said.

The obverse of the coin depicts memorials commemorating the victims of the Armenian Genocide in Russia, USA, France and Armenia. The reverse depicts the monuments commemorating the victims of the Armenian Genocide in Armenia, Syria, Brazil and the Netherlands.

The only international competition of commemorative coins, which takes place in Russia, featured more than 240 commemorative coins and 21 coin series issued from 1 January to 31 December 2015. -0-
