Javadyan: no talk about single currency for EEU until 2015

YEREVAN, July 6. /ARKA/. The introduction of a single currency for member countries of the Eurasian Economic Union may appear on the agenda no earlier than 2015, the chairman of the Central Bank of Armenia Arthur Javadyan said today.

Speaking to reporters in the parliament he said much had been said about this matter, but at the moment Armenia and its partners in EEU have the same approach to this issue – not to discuss this issue until 2025.

He noted that after 2025 this issue will be discussed depending on the situation in which the economies of the EEU member countries will be.

“Our position on this issue is very strong: As we are witnessing both positive and negative aspects of the introduction of the single currency in the European Union, we have learned enough lessons, which is one of the reasons that all EEU member countries try to avoid talking about this issue,” Javadyan said. -0-
