Armenian banks increase their investments in government bonds by 10.5% in May

YEREVAN, July 7. /ARKA/. Investments of Armenia’s banks in government bonds have grown 10.5% since the beginning of this year reaching AMD 403.9 billion in late May, but they reduced 2.4% over one month, the Central Bank of Armenia reports.

Non-bank investments in government bonds totaled AMD 77.5 billion in late May accounting for a 4.6 percent month-on-month growth, and the central bank’s investments amounted to AMD 19.6 billion after shrinking 15.1% over one month.

Non-banking agents and dealers have made no investments in government bonds.

Nonresidents’ investments in government bonds totaled AMD 7.8 billion. In total, investments in government bonds shrank 1.9% in May to AMD 508.9 billion. ($1 – AMD 479.82). –0—
