Armenian banks enjoy record profits in last five years

YEREVAN, July 19. /ARKA/. Net profit of Armenia’s banking sector amounted to AMD 36.3 billion in the 1st Q 2018 against the AMD 18 billion recorded at the same period a year earlier.

This means, the sector has doubled its profit hitting the record high since 2013.

Remarkable is that all the 17 banks of Armenia ended the first half of this year with profits.

According to the banks’ reports, the banks’ assets totaled AMD 4 502.8 billion by the end of the first half of this year after growing 3.47% since the beginning of the year.

Only six banks had their assets reduced in the 1st H 2018.

The country’s banks have built up their loan portfolio 7.6% to AMD 2 842.9 billion since the beginning of this year.

Their aggregate liabilities grew 3% to AMD 3 770.9 billion despite these six banks’ adverse indicators.

Although the banks’ aggregate liabilities have grown over the mentioned period, their liabilities to clients have shrunk slightly by 0.56% to AMD 2 541.4 billion.

Their total capital amounted to AMD 731.9 billion after growing 5.7%. ($1 – AMD 480.37). –0—
