UMAF and ACBA-CREDIT AGRICOLE BANK implement public health charity program in Tavush

YEREVAN, September 6. /ARKA/. The Union of Armenian Doctors of France (UMAF) with the assistance of ACBA-CREDIT AGRICOLE BANK implemented a public health charity program in the province of Tavush, called “Spectacles for Armenia”, the press service of the bank reported.

It said for the fourth year in a row, with the support of UMAF, doctors have been bringing to Armenia a large number of optical lenses, laboratory and ophthalmologic equipment, checking the eyesight of children on the spot. If necessary, spectacles were made and given to them as gifts. As part of the program, about 600 children were examined this year in Tavush.

“Eyesight is very important for children, because when they do not see well, they cannot study well. In order to study well, you need to have good eyesight,” said Petros Ohanyan, a co-founder of the program.
He said that children were brought from other cities as well by bus. He expressed his gratitude to ACBA-CREDIT AGRICOLE Bank, which has been providing most of the required amount for several years.

“With these funds, we organize the delivery of necessary equipment from France to Armenia and do other organizational work,” Ohanyan said.

The cooperation between ACBA-CREDIT AGRICOLE Bank and UMAF began in 2016. As part of it, every year doctors of Armenian descent from France carry out a free ophthalmologic program for children from different regions of Armenia.

ACBA was established in 1996 as part of EU’s TACIS program. As a result of a long-term and mutually beneficial cooperation between ACBA Bank and the French Credit Agricole the latter became the biggest shareholder of ACBA in 2006, September. ACBA was restructured, becoming a closed joint stock company and was renamed ACBA CREDIT AGRICOLE BANK. -0-
