Armenian police detain young man who tried to rob a bank branch

YEREVAN, January 15. /ARKA/. Armenia’s Investigative Committee said today a 33 year-old young man was detained in the town of Tashir on suspicion of attempting to rob a bank.

It said the suspect illegally entered a bank branch on January 14 at 9.49 , attacked an employee,
threatening her with a knife, and tried to take the cash from the cash desk. However, he was neutralized by a policeman on duty at the bank.

The Investigative Committee said the man is a resident of Tashir, born in 1987, who admitted to trying to rob the bank branch.

A suspect or accused of an alleged crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty according to a court ruling that enters into legal force in the manner established by the Code of Criminal Procedure of Armenia. –0–
