Armenian banks assets up 5.9% to over 7 trillion drams

YEREVAN, February 2. /ARKA/. The liabilities of 17 Armenia-based commercial banks grew by  6% in 2021 while their combined assets upped by 5.9%, the chairman of the Central Bank Martin Galstyan told a press conference on February 1.

He specified that the  total assets of the banks amounted to about 7 trillion 085 billion drams, liabilities – to 6 trillion 167 billion drams and the  total capital  to about 900 billion drams.

According to the  Union of Banks of Armenia, in the first 9 months of 2021 Armenian banks earned 66.3 billion drams in net profit (13.1% growth against the same period in 2020r). Their lending  declined by 6.7% to 3.9 trillion drams, while deposits grew by 3.9% to  3.9 trillion drams.

All the banks run as many as  541 branches across Armenia, the number of employees stood at  12.7 thousand, the number of clients, who have more than 6.5 million accounts stood at  3.3 million. ($1 – 483.38 AMD). -0-
