Armenia’s total state debt grows to over $11 billion

YEREVAN, June 7. /ARKA/. Armenia’s overall state debt as of May 31, 2023 stood at a little over $11 billion, having increased by over $53 mln from the previous month, according to the National Statistical Committee.

On December 31, 2022, the country’s state debt stood at over $10.6 billion. As of May 31, 2023, the state debt in Armenian drams stood at over 4.2 trillion, having increased by more than 19.2 billion from the previous month of April.

As of December 31, 2022, the state debt was worth 4.186 trillion drams. According to the National Statistics Committee, the country’s foreign debt stood at over $6.4 billion (a decrease of $24.2 million from April 2023), while the domestic debt rose by $77.449 million from April to over $4.6 billion.

In AMD equivalent, the external debt decreased by 10.1 billion to about 2.5 trillion, and the domestic  debt increased by 29.3 billion to about 1.8 trillion.

The government’s external debt decreased by $12.5 million to over $5.8 billion as of May 2023. The government’s debt in AMD equivalent decreased by over 5.5 billion to over 2.2 trillion.

The Central Bank’s debt decreased by $11.7 million to $554.7 million. The Central Bank’s debt in AMD equivalent decreased by 4.5 billion to 214.4 billion.

The debt to resident holders of government bonds stood at a little over $4 billion (an increase of $68.338 mln), the debt to resident holders of government Eurobonds stood as of May 31, 2023 at about $550.5 million  (an increase of $10.5 mln).

Government guarantees  stood at $20.237 mln (a decrease of $1.386 mln). -0-
