Armenia set to enhance development of its capital market, targeting large issuers and new investors

YEREVAN, August 20. /ARKA/. The Armenian government prioritizes diversifying funding sources and advancing the capital market to foster sustainable and productive economic growth.

The government’s program for 2026-2031, which was approved on Thursday, outlines several strategies to achieve this objective.

1. Enhancing the legislation that governs the securities market. The aim is to create a stable regulatory framework that supports market growth and aligns with global best practices.

2. Encouraging the participation of large, reputable companies capable of thriving in the corporate securities market. The objective is to establish a track record of successful issuances and build investor trust by attracting at least three major issuers.

3. Bringing in at least two respected intermediary catalysts to the capital market. These organizations will offer investment banking services, assisting issuers with structuring securities, pricing, placement, and attracting investors.

4. Enhancing tools for co-financing the costs of securities issuance, acquiring international ratings, and providing expert consulting services. The goal is to encourage new issuances and improve companies’ readiness to access both local and international capital markets.

5. Expanding investment opportunities for local and foreign investors in Armenian securities by developing automated and regular investment mechanisms through mobile and other digital solutions, as well as granting foreign intermediaries remote access to the exchange platform.-0-
