Armenia’s Investigative Committee confirms theft of 60 million drams and gold items from the car of a bank branch manager

YEREVAN, October 10. /ARKA/. Armenia’s Investigative Committee has confirmed the theft of a large sum of money and gold items from the car of the manager of Martuni branch of Artsakhbank CJSC (in Nagorno-Karabakh).

It said a criminal case has been initiated. The theft was reported by the manager to  the head office of Artsakhbank in Yerevan, which in turn reported it  to the Armenian Police on October 6.

According to the Investigative Committee, on September 22 after learning that the population in Nagorno-Karabakh began evacuating to Armenia, the manager of the branch in the town of Martuni took all the money – about 60 mln. AMD- and about 100 bags with gold jewelry, put them in his personal car and drove home in order to leave for Armenia the next day.

In the morning of the next day he noticed that an unknown person broke the car window and stole the money and gold jewelry.

Armenian Investigative Committee spokesman Gor Abrahamyan said the preliminary investigation was underway to verify the information presented in the report within the framework of criminal proceedings. . ($1 – 404.1 dram)–0–.
