Armenian Deputy PM and ADB President emphasize expansion of cooperation in infrastructure development

YEREVAN, November 28. /ARKA/. Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan and Asian Development Bank (ADB) President Masatsugu Asakawa emphasized today the importance of expanding cooperation in such areas as infrastructure and human capital development.  

According to the press service of the government, they also exchanged views on the employment and digitalization reforms.

Deputy Prime Minister highly assessed the cooperation with ADB, noting that the jointly implemented programs are in tune with the strategic priorities of the Armenian government.

Grigoryan attached importance to ADB’s cooperation with private sector companies, emphasizing its contribution to developing the business culture in Armenia.

During the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister presented to the ADB President the main needs of Nagorno-Karabakh refugees and the support measures implemented by the government to address them.

On Monday Armenia and ADB signed two loan agreements on Seismic Risk Reduction Program and Yerevan Urban Development Investment Program worth more than 120 million euros. 

ADB is one of Armenia’s largest development partners. Since 2005 through this summer, the bank provided more than $1.6 billion in financial assistance, supporting the government’s priorities in transportation, energy, water, and urban infrastructure, among others.

 In the private sector, ADB is supporting utilities and infrastructure, financial institutions, and agribusiness. -0-
