Armenia’s overall public debts grows to over $11 billion

YEREVAN, December 6. /ARKA/. Armenia’s total public debt stood at over $11.1 billion as of October 31, 2023, having slashed by $206.4 million from the previous month, according to the numbers, released by the National Statistical Committee (NSC).

On December 31, 2022, the country’s total public debt stood at over $10.6 billion.  If calculated in Armenian drams, as of October 31, 2023 the overall public debt was up by about 17.3 billion to over 4.4 trillion drams. On December 31, 2022 it was worth about 4.2 trillion drams.

According to the NSC, of the total public debt over $6.3 billion was Armenia external debt, which dropped by $171 million from late September 2023, while domestic debt dropped by $35.5 million to about $4.8 billion.

In Armenian drams the external debt decreased by 11 billion to over 2.5 trillion, while the domestic debt grew by 28.3 billion to over 1.9 trillion.

The government’s external debt decreased by $163 million to over $5.8 as of late October 2023. In dram equivalent, the government’s debt decreased by 12.5 billion to over 2.3 trillion.

The debt of the Central Bank dropped by over $8 million to about $524. In dram equivalent it grew by 1.5 billion to about 211 billion.

Of the domestic debt, over $4.2 were owed to resident holders of government bonds, up about $10 million Over $546 million were owed to holders of the government’s Eurobonds (a drop of $42.6 million). Also, $11, 6 were owed as domestic guarantees, a drop of $2.7 million – 0-
