Agro-insurance process for 2024 launched in Armenia

YEREVAN, May 8. /ARKA/. Armenia’s Ministry of Economy, which oversees also the agricultural sector, urged today farmers to insure their crops against hail and drought risks for 2024.

This year the agro-insurance program covers such crops as apple, cherry, peach, slava, potato, watermelon and melon (against hail), as well as grain crops (wheat, barley, oats) against drought.

The insurance premiums are subsidized by the government by 50-60%. In addition, the government supports the insurance companies by paying compensations in case of exceeding a certain level of insurance payments. The deadline for farmers to conclude contracts is May 31.
