In Armenia, commercial bank deposits grew by 2.2% and lending by 1.6% in March — World Bank

YEREVAN, May 20. /ARKA/. In March, commercial bank deposits increased by 2.2% (MoM), while lending grew by 1.6% (MoM), according to the World Bank’s “Armenia Monthly Economic Update – May 2026.”

“Exchange-adjusted annual growth increased slightly to 17.8% (YoY) for total deposits, while robust lending growth slowed to 23.4% (YoY),” the study notes.

WB analysts also note that financial system indicators remained robust: the capital adequacy ratio increased to 20.5%, and the non-performing loan ratio rose slightly to 1.4% after remaining at 1.3% for the previous five months. According to the Central Bank, the total volume of loans issued by Armenian commercial banks at the end of March 2026 amounted to 8.16 trillion drams, compared to 8.03 trillion drams in February of the same year. At the same time, the total volume of deposits attracted by Armenian commercial banks in March of this year amounted to 7.58 trillion drams, compared to 7.42 trillion drams in February of the same year.
