Net inflow of remittances to Armenia from abroad increased by approximately 2.1 times in 5 months

YEREVAN, July 1. /ARKA/. The net inflow of cross-border transfers to individuals in Armenia, received from abroad through the Armenian banking system, amounted to $1.08 billion in January-May 2026, compared to $511.7 million in January-May 2025, according to a report from the Central Bank of the Republic.

Thus, this figure increased 2.12 times year-on-year.

Moreover, in May alone, the net inflow of remittances amounted to $356.8 million, compared to $238.3 million in May of last year. The inflow of cross-border transfers to individuals in Armenia, received from abroad through the Armenian banking system, amounted to $2.81 billion in the first five months of this year, compared to $2.3 billion in the same period last year.

The leading countries for transfers to Armenia were Russia with $1.87 billion and the United States with $334.1 million. Furthermore, Russia and the United States also led transfers to Armenia in the 2025 reporting period ($1.51 billion and $266.3 million, respectively).

At the same time, the outflow of transfers from individuals from Armenia abroad, made through the Armenian banking system, amounted to $1.73 billion in January-May 2026, compared to $1.79 billion in the same period of 2025.

The United States ($281.9 million) and the UAE ($244 million) led transfers from Armenia abroad in the reporting months. In January-May 2025, the leaders were Switzerland ($310.2 million) and the UAE ($297.2 million).
