Finance minister: 2010 to be year of recovery for Armenia

YEREVAN, February 23. /ARKA/. Armenian Finance Minister Tigran Davtyan, speaking at Bridge-2010, seventh international economic forum held this weekend in Tsakhkadzor, Armenia, said 2010 would be a year of recovery for Armenia.

“We recorded some economic growth in January,” he said. “This gives us hope for quick recovery.”

According to National Statistical Service of Armenia, the country enjoyed 2.4% economic growth in January 2010, compared with the same month a year earlier.

Davtyan said that despite pessimistic outlooks in 2009, there was hope for recovery.

He said that all the difficulties caused by the global recession have been overcome.

“We faced economic decline, but as a whole, macroeconomic situation remained stable, predictable and controllable thanks to the government, private sector and the community’s efforts,” the minister said. -0–
