IMF does not expect abrupt variations in national currency of Armenia

YEREVAN, July 26. /ARKA/. IMF does not expect abrupt variations in national currency of Armenia, said permanent representative of IMF in Armenia Guillermo Tolosa.

“We think that there will be usual changes conditioned by the circumstances in the market”, said Tolosa.

National currency will be flexible, which means that “there will be increases and decreases of national currency.

From June 26 to July 23 Armenian dram revaluated against US dollar by 2.84 points or 0.8% (from 369.17 to 366.33 drams). From the beginning of summer, maximum margin of US dollar rate to Armenian dram was registered on June 17 when the rate was 363.35 drams for 1 US dollar. Today the rate is 366.33 drams for 1 US dollar.

According to prognosis of CB, dollar/dram ratio will be $1-372.95 drams in September 2010 and $1-376.76 – at the end of the year. By the prognosis of five large Armenian banks, $1 will be 373.01 drams and at the end of December – 369.97 drams. 0–
