Premier: Armenia now entering deflation period

YEGHEGNADZOR, June 30. /ARKA/. Armenia is now entering deflation period, which is expected to last two months, Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan said Thursday at an out Cabinet session in Vayots Dzor province.

“We have recorded 3.5% inflation since the beginning of this year, but prices are expected to go down in July and August,” ARKA News Agency correspondent quoted him as saying.

According to official statistical reports, Armenia recorded 1.4% deflation in June, compared with May.

Prices for foods, alcoholic drinks and cigarettes fell 2.6% in June, while prices for nonfoods and services rose 0.1%. -0-
