Armenian banks student loans rise to 3.1 billion drams

YEREVAN, February 27. /ARKA/. As of January 31, 2012 the amount of student loans and other education allocations provided by Armenian commercial banks increased by 1.8% from late December 2011 to about 3.1 billion drams, the Central Bank of Armenia says in a statement on its official website. It says the bulk of loans in December – almost 80%- were provided in foreign currency.

Thus, the amount of educational loans granted in foreign currency at the end of January amounted to more than 2.4 billion drams, an increase of 2.4% from 2011 December. At the same time, the volume of consumer loans in the reporting period amounted to more than 223 billion drams, having increased by 2.6% from 2011 December. ($1 – 388.93drams).-0-
