European Union experts to advise on introduction of insurance in Armenian agriculture: Minister

YEREVAN, August 24. /ARKA/. European Union experts will arrive in Armenia in October to advise on introduction of insurance in agriculture, agriculture minister Sergo Karapetian told a news conference today.

“I do not think that insurance in agriculture will be introduced in Armenia any time soon, but this does not mean we are not working in this direction,” he said.

According to him, five-day consultations will involve regional authorities, MPs and experts.

“The EU experts will provide complete information about introduction of insurance, formation of co-operatives, irrigation system, rational use of land and so on,” said Karapetian.

“This is a serious issue because the insurance system in agriculture has its own features and complexity, and even some developed countries have not introduced it,” he said. -0-
