Dram deposits in Armenian banks grow by 1.5 percent to 326 billion drams in late July

YEREVAN, September 19. / ARKA /. The total amount of deposits in Armenian national currency, the dram, kept at local commercial banks stood at 325.8 billion drams at the end of July, a 1.5 percent increase compared to the previous month, the Central Bank of Armenia said in a statement posted on its official website.

It said 98.7% of all deposits in drams, about 310.5 billion, were owned by residents. According to the statement, demand deposits of residents made 44.8% or 145.9 billion drams. The figure represented a 2 percent rise from the previous month. The statement says also time deposits accounted for 50.5% of residents’ deposits standing at more than 164.6 billion drams.

The amount of deposits in foreign currency increased in July compared to the previous month by 0.8% to about 755 billion drams. There are 21 commercial banks in Armenia. ($1 – 408.5 drams). -0-
